Nigerian music superstar Davido has been appointed Youth Peace Ambassador by the African Union Commission, in recognition of his continued efforts in promoting youth development, peace advocacy, and social unity across the continent.
The appointment was announced at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa during the closing ceremony of the AU Youth and Development Summit. The honor positions Davido as one of the most influential public figures officially tasked with representing African youth on issues ranging from conflict resolution to education reform.

“Davido has shown time and again that he is more than a musician. He is a leader who commands the respect and attention of millions of young Africans. His platform is powerful, and now it will serve a greater cause.”
In his acceptance speech, Davido real name David Adeleke called on African youth to “be the solution” to the continent’s challenges.
“Music gave me a voice, but peace gives us a future. I’ll use every opportunity to speak up for those who can’t and to push for the Africa we all deserve.”
The role is largely ceremonial but includes participation in AU youth conferences, social impact campaigns, and peacebuilding missions. Sources close to Davido confirmed plans for a new pan African music tour in partnership with the AU aimed at promoting unity.
