Health officials are sounding the alarm: Measles is back and it’s spreading fast. The CDC confirmed this week that 2025 is now the worst year for measles since 1992, with Missouri among the hardest hit. Schools in several counties have already closed, and public health alerts have been issued statewide.
Doctors say many of the infections are happening in communities with low vaccination rates. One ER nurse in St. Louis said, “It’s heartbreaking we’re seeing babies come in with fevers over 105.”
Officials urge the public: check your vaccination records. This outbreak is far from over.
