“China Warns Israel: ‘Nothing Holy in Hate - End the Killing or Face Deeper War’”

Israel’s continued military operations in Gaza

In a rare and sharply worded statement, senior Chinese foreign policy advisor Zhou Lian has condemned Israel’s continued military operations in Gaza, accusing the nation of “burying holiness under rubble” and warning that ongoing aggression could plunge the Middle East into an uncontrollable spiral of regional war.

“There is nothing holy about what Israel is doing in Gaza,” Zhou said during a press briefing in Beijing. “Only the followers of hate and violence continue to bomb starving families while the world watches. If this destruction does not stop, Israel will fall into a deep hole of war one from which no diplomacy can rescue it.”

Zhou, a veteran diplomat and current Director of Strategic Foreign Relations at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks following reports that 55 Palestinians, including children and women, were killed in overnight airstrikes. Humanitarian aid remains blocked at Gaza’s borders despite previous announcements of limited relief access.

The statement marks one of China’s strongest condemnations of Israel in recent years. While Beijing has traditionally maintained a neutral stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, analysts say China is increasingly voicing opposition as the humanitarian toll grows and diplomatic tensions escalate across the globe.

“Beijing is signaling a shift not just supporting a ceasefire, but calling out Israel’s conduct as morally indefensible,” said Mei Lin, a senior fellow at the Shanghai Institute for Global Affairs. “The choice of words ‘nothing holy,’ ‘followers of hate’ is a direct challenge to the narrative coming out of Tel Aviv.”

Israel has yet to respond to Zhou Lian’s comments. But within international circles, pressure is mounting. The UK and EU have already suspended or reviewed trade ties, and new voices are joining the call for immediate ceasefire.

Meanwhile, inside Gaza, the situation remains dire. “We have no water, no food, and no escape,” said Dr. Samira Khaled, a surgeon at Al-Shifa Hospital. “Even hospitals are targets. The world needs to do more than speak it must act.”

Zhou ended his briefing with a stark warning: “When a nation begins to destroy what little peace exists, it does not only lose its neighbors it loses itself.”
