Hours after a highly publicized phone call between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, Russia launched a fresh wave of drone strikes across Ukrainian cities overnight, leaving civilians scrambling for safety and critical infrastructure damaged.
Ukrainian military officials confirmed that over 100 Iranian-made Shahed drones were deployed in what is now one of the largest air assaults in recent months. At least 18 people were injured, and emergency crews are battling fires in Lviv and Dnipro.
The attacks came just after Trump claimed he had “a constructive and respectful dialogue” with Putin, promising that “negotiations will restart immediately.” However, Ukrainian leaders say the strikes expose the gap between political talk and battlefield reality.
“Words do not protect lives,” said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. “These attacks are a direct message from the Kremlin peace is not on their agenda.”
NATO forces remain on alert as the alliance monitors potential Russian escalation. Meanwhile, citizens in Ukraine continue to brace for more overnight strikes, as air raid sirens have become a part of daily life.
