In a Senate hearing, Rubio described Syria as a “powder keg ready to explode,” urging swift international coordination to prevent another humanitarian disaster.

The warning follows a surge in violence near Idlib and fresh reports of displaced families crossing into Turkey. Aid organizations have already flagged critical shortages of food, medicine, and shelter.
“This is not just about Syria it’s about regional collapse,” Rubio said.
