The ruling junta in Mali has officially suspended all political activities across the nation as thousands of citizens plan fresh protests to demand a return to civilian rule.
In a national broadcast, the junta declared that the move was “necessary to preserve order” and warned that any defiance would be met with strict enforcement.
This decision comes amid growing frustration over delayed elections and unfulfilled promises since the military took control in a 2021 coup.

Human rights groups have condemned the clampdown, calling it an abuse of power.
“This is not governance it’s authoritarianism,” said Dr. Aisha Kamara, an analyst with the Sahel Democracy Institute.
