Two days after 16-year-old Emily Carter went missing after leaving Lincoln Ridge High School, authorities are intensifying their search efforts. Jefferson City Police, alongside the Missouri State Highway Patrol and FBI agents, are actively investigating all leads to locate Emily and ensure her safe return.
Police Chief Mark Reynolds confirmed that new information has come in from local residents and surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed. “We are following up on every tip and working around the clock,” Reynolds said during a press briefing.

The community remains deeply concerned, with volunteers organizing search parties around the school’s neighborhood and nearby wooded areas. Local organizations and the school have set up a hotline to receive information that could help in the investigation.

Emily’s family released a statement pleading for her safe return and thanking the community for their support: “We miss Emily dearly and urge anyone who knows anything to please come forward.”
Meanwhile, Lincoln Ridge High School has temporarily increased security measures, including additional staff presence during dismissal times and the installation of new cameras on campus.
Although no suspects have been publicly named, police continue to investigate the possibility of kidnapping but have not ruled out other explanations.
The case remains active, and officials ask the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
