Inside Oyedepo’s Ark: The 109,000-Seat Church That Could Become the World’s Largest

Inside Oyedepo’s Ark: The 109,000-Seat Church That Could Become the World’s Largest

Nigeria’s megachurch landscape may soon reach a new milestone. At Canaanland, the headquarters of Living Faith Church Worldwide, construction is underway on the Ark Legacy Project a gigantic worship auditorium designed to seat about 109,000 people.

The project is led by David Oyedepo, founder of Winners’ Chapel, whose ministry already built one of the world’s largest church auditoriums, Faith Tabernacle, which seats roughly 50,000 worshippers.

If completed as planned, The Ark could become the largest church sanctuary in the world, capable of holding more than double the capacity of the Faith Tabernacle.

What Is the Ark Legacy Project?

The Ark Legacy Project is envisioned as a massive new worship complex built within the sprawling Canaanland campus near Ota in Nigeria.

The structure is expected to include:

A 109,000-seat main auditorium

Multiple mission towers and administrative buildings

Large parking facilities to accommodate thousands of vehicles

Escalators, elevators, and wide walkways designed for massive crowds

Advanced sound, lighting, and broadcasting systems

The design reflects the scale of the ministry’s global operations and the large crowds that attend services, conferences, and conventions.

Why the Project Is Trending

News about the Ark Legacy Project has sparked widespread discussion online for several reasons.

First, the sheer size of the structure is extraordinary. A building capable of seating over 100,000 people in one indoor worship space would be among the largest religious structures ever built.

Second, the project highlights the influence of Nigeria’s megachurch movement, which attracts millions of followers across Africa and around the world.

Finally, like many large religious developments, the Ark has also sparked debate. Supporters see it as a symbol of faith and growth, while critics question whether such massive projects should be prioritized in a country facing economic challenges.

A Church Already Known for Record-Breaking Scale

The Ark is not the first massive project built by Living Faith Church.

When Faith Tabernacle opened in 1999, it quickly became known as one of the largest church auditoriums in the world, hosting tens of thousands of worshippers every week.

The Ark would dramatically expand that capacity, positioning Canaanland as one of the largest religious gathering sites anywhere.

The Bigger Picture

Nigeria is home to some of the world’s fastest-growing churches, and large worship centers have become a defining feature of the country’s religious landscape.

For supporters of the Ark Legacy Project, the new sanctuary represents the next chapter in that story a place designed to accommodate the enormous crowds that attend services and events.

Whether viewed as a symbol of faith, influence, or controversy, one thing is clear: the Ark Legacy Project is poised to become one of the most talked-about religious structures in the world.
