The shadow of Jeffrey Epstein’s network of exploitation continues to come into focus as new victims speak out. According to a recent BBC News Brasil investigation, multiple Brazilian women have revealed that Epstein used a modelling agent to recruit them and others under the guise of legitimate modelling opportunities.
Promises That Hid a Dark Reality
Several women told the BBC that a modelling agent, connected to Epstein, approached them when they were teenagers. One woman, Gláucia Fekete, recalled being just 16 when the agent visited her home, persuading her mother to allow her to travel for a modelling competition in Ecuador. But once she arrived, she was cut off from her family, raising red flags about the true purpose of the trip.

Another woman, identified as “Ana” for privacy reasons, described being recruited under the pretense of modelling work but quickly realizing the situation was exploitative and misleading. The women explained that Epstein’s network sometimes facilitated U.S. visas through the agent, creating the appearance of legitimate modelling work while masking the true intent.
The Role of Jean-Luc Brunel
The agent in question, Jean‑Luc Brunel, a French modelling agent long associated with Epstein, ran agencies in multiple countries. He has faced multiple accusations over the years of recruiting young women and girls into Epstein’s orbit. Brunel died by suicide in 2022 while under investigation for alleged sexual exploitation and trafficking.
A Wider Pattern Emerges
According to court records and testimony, this was not an isolated incident. The BBC report suggests a systematic approach: promising modelling work, arranging visas, and facilitating travel to bring young women into Epstein’s environment. Brazilian authorities are currently investigating potential trafficking networks linked to Epstein, including the role of local recruiters.

Why It Matters
Even years after Epstein’s death, the consequences of his network are still unfolding. The stories of these women show how vulnerable teenagers were misled under the guise of legitimate opportunities. Highlighting these accounts is a crucial part of ongoing efforts to expose and prevent exploitation worldwide.
“We were promised modelling careers, but what we found was manipulation and exploitation,” said one survivor.
This investigation underscores the importance of vigilance and awareness, especially when young people are promised opportunities abroad. Epstein’s network demonstrates how power and influence can be abused, leaving long-lasting scars on victims around the world.
