In a story that stunned the nation, Lisa Monroe, a grieving mother, forgave the man who shot and killed her 19-year-old son during a robbery and invited him to dinner at her home after his prison release.
“I didn’t do it to excuse him. I did it to free myself,” Lisa said tearfully. “Hate was eating me alive.”
The man, Jordan Ellis, now 26, served six years in prison. At the dinner table, he sat beside Lisa, shaking. “She should hate me,” he whispered. “But she prayed with me instead.”
Photos from the night Lisa and Jordan holding hands across the table went viral on social media, sparking deep conversations about healing, faith, and justice.
“It doesn’t mean I’m over my son’s death,” Lisa added. “It means I’m choosing to turn pain into peace.”
