Michael Thompson had just lost his job and was down to his last $10. As he left the bus stop, debating whether to spend it on food or call his sister, he saw a woman crying on the sidewalk.
She looked cold and desperate. Without hesitation, Michael walked over, handed her his last $10, and said, “It’s not much, but I hope it helps.”
The woman stared at him in shock. She didn’t take the money. Instead, she asked him his name. Then she smiled.
“I’m not homeless,” she said. “I’m part of a documentary filming the kindness of strangers. And you just proved that even with nothing, people can still give everything.”
The woman turned out to be Ava Reynolds, a filmmaker working on a Netflix series called “The Human Spirit.” She gave Michael a prepaid card with $5,000 and later, helped him land a job with her team.
“He didn’t hesitate. He didn’t ask what I needed. He just gave,” Ava said. “That’s the kind of heart this world needs.”
