Legendary actor and outspoken critic of Donald Trump, Robert De Niro, has once again made headlines after launching a fiery verbal assault on the former U.S. President during a political fundraiser in Manhattan, describing Trump as “nothing but a piece of sh*t.”
The Hollywood icon, known for his roles in The Godfather Part II and Taxi Driver, has never hidden his disdain for Trump but this latest tirade was his most direct and scathing to date.
“Donald Trump is nothing but a piece of sh*t,” De Niro told a crowd of political donors and activists. “He’s lied to the people, trashed every institution, insulted the press, and tried to destroy American democracy for his own ego.”

The crowd erupted in a mix of applause and gasps as the actor continued his unfiltered speech. De Niro criticized Trump’s legal troubles, controversial 2024 campaign rallies, and recent remarks undermining the judiciary and the media.
“We’ve had bad presidents. We’ve had corrupt ones. But never have we had someone who turned his hatred for the truth into a brand a man who weaponizes stupidity and calls it patriotism.”
De Niro’s statement came just days after Trump’s latest court hearing in Florida and ahead of the former president’s planned appearance at a conservative summit in Texas. The timing has intensified public reaction across social media and mainstream platforms.

On X (formerly Twitter), the hashtag #DeNiroVsTrump began trending within hours, with thousands of users praising the actor’s courage, while others criticized his language as “inappropriate for political discourse.”
Political analysts noted that De Niro’s remarks reflect a larger shift in tone from many Trump critics as the 2024 election aftermath and ongoing indictments continue to polarize the country.
“This is more than celebrity outburst it’s symbolic of the deep emotional backlash that Trump still provokes in American culture,” said Karen Summers, a political media expert at NYU. “De Niro’s raw tone resonates with a segment of the population that sees Trump as a threat, not a leader.”
