The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the tragic killing of Nazifi Ibrahim, a commercial motorcyclist, who was attacked and murdered by a suspected armed robber on Wednesday.
According to a statement from police spokesperson Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the fatal incident occurred in Akure, the state capital, in the early hours of the day. Ibrahim was reportedly lured by the assailant under the guise of a normal passenger request, only to be ambushed during the ride.
“The suspect posed as a passenger, and while in transit, attacked Nazifi Ibrahim with a dangerous weapon and fled with the motorcycle,” the police said.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing Ibrahim’s body dumped along a deserted stretch of road, raising alarm that led to the police’s swift response. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene, sparking outrage among fellow riders in the area.

The Police Command has launched a full investigation and promised to bring the perpetrator to justice. Meanwhile, residents are calling for increased patrols and better protection for commercial motorcyclists, who continue to face rising risks in their daily hustle.
“This is not just a crime it’s a reflection of the growing insecurity facing our people trying to earn an honest living,” said Adamu Yusuf, a spokesperson for the local riders’ union.
The incident adds to a growing list of violent crimes targeting transport workers in the region, intensifying demands for urgent government action.
