A newly leaked intelligence report has sparked outrage across the United States, revealing that millions of Americans may have unknowingly been monitored through common smart devicessuch as home assistants, phones, and TVs all allegedly linked to a classified AI surveillance program dating back to 2021.
According to a whistleblower source within a federal cybersecurity agency, the program dubbed “Project Halo” allegedly used advanced machine learning algorithms to flag “potential threats” by recording voice data and screen activity from users without consent.
The leak includes internal emails and technical documents suggesting cooperation between tech firms and unnamed U.S. intelligence contractors. Privacy advocates are calling the alleged actions “an unprecedented breach of constitutional rights.”
“This is bigger than Snowden,” said Congressman Troy Graham (D-MN), who has called for an emergency hearing in Congress on Friday.
“Americans deserve to know if the devices in their homes are being weaponized against them,” he added.

The White House has declined to comment but said in a brief statement, “We take all surveillance concerns seriously and are reviewing the matter.”
Meanwhile, several Big Tech companies have denied involvement, claiming any data collection is for “performance improvement” and user personalization.
Civil rights organizations including the ACLU and the Electronic Frontier Foundation are demanding full transparency and criminal accountability if the allegations are true.
With Congress now under pressure, the coming days are likely to expose one of the most explosive surveillance controversies in recent history.
