India-Pakistan Ceasefire Wobbles as Explosions Rock Kashmir Border

Indian airspace from the Pakistani side in the early hours of Monday

Barely ten days after India and Pakistan agreed to a historic ceasefire, fresh tensions are simmering along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, where explosions and drone activity were reported overnight.

Indian military sources say at least three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) crossed into Indian airspace from the Pakistani side in the early hours of Monday, prompting air defense teams to scramble. One drone was shot down, while the others reportedly retreated. Pakistan’s military has denied the incursion, accusing India of staging the incident to discredit the truce.

Local residents in the Uri and Rajouri sectors reported loud blasts, suspected to be from mortar fire, causing panic in nearby villages. No casualties have been officially confirmed, but school closures and road checkpoints have already been reinstated.

“This ceasefire is already paper-thin,” said one senior Indian intelligence officer. “Both sides are accusing, maneuvering, and watching. It’s fragile and potentially short-lived.”

The truce, signed on May 10 with backing from neutral Gulf states, was hailed as a breakthrough. Now, with trust quickly eroding, peace efforts may be heading toward collapse unless urgent diplomatic intervention takes place.
