Trump Is Making America Poorer, Weaker, Less Safe, and Less Free — And Voters Are Starting to Notice

It’s a growing sentiment across the country and not just among Democrats. From rising costs to growing global isolation, many Americans now say what was once unthinkable: Donald Trump’s leadership is making the country worse, not better.

For all his promises of greatness, Trump’s America is showing serious cracks.

Poorer

Under Trump’s economic pressure campaigns including new tariffs on allies like Canada and threatened trade wars prices are rising. Everyday essentials, from groceries to fuel, are getting more expensive, and even conservative economists are warning that Trump’s return to protectionism could trigger a new recession. Meanwhile, tax cuts for the wealthy have left average Americans with little to show for it, and the national debt has ballooned.

Weaker

Trump’s foreign policy has alienated allies and emboldened adversaries. His admiration for authoritarian figures and disdain for international partnerships has diminished U.S. credibility on the world stage. NATO leaders no longer trust America’s commitment, and Trump’s transactional diplomacy leaves longstanding alliances in shambles.

Less Safe

At home, Trump’s immigration policies are chaotic and often cruel but they haven’t made the country safer. Law enforcement and border agencies are stretched thin, reacting more to rhetoric than strategy. Internally, Trump’s language has fueled division and inspired extremism, as hate crimes and domestic terror threats rise.

Less Free

Perhaps most troubling: Trump’s open attacks on journalists, federal judges, protesters, and even his own political opponents. His desire to “lock up” critics and reshape institutions in his image is not a sign of strength it’s the playbook of authoritarianism. His allies are already promising revenge if he returns to power.

And the People Are Noticing

Poll after poll shows American voters are deeply concerned about the direction of the country under Trump’s influence. Even former allies are speaking out, and swing voters are voicing second thoughts. His approval is slipping among independents and suburban voters, groups that will be critical in 2024 and beyond.

Trump promised to make America great again. But increasingly, Americans are waking up to a darker truth: He’s making America poorer, weaker, less safe, and less free and they’re not willing to pay that price any longer.
