President Trump just made one of his biggest climate moves yet and it’s blowing in with force. This week, the White House unveiled a multi-billion-dollar offshore wind deal that could power millions of homes along the East Coast. The agreement, which includes major energy companies and labor unions, is expected to create over 40,000 jobs and help shift the U.S. away from fossil fuels.
“This is about good paying American jobs, energy independence, and protecting our planet,” Trump said at a press conference near New Jersey’s shoreline.
The wind turbines some the height of skyscrapers will be built in clusters off the coasts of New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Construction begins next year.

But not everyone is cheering. Democrats lawmakers and oil-backed lobbyists are already pushing back, claiming the project could disrupt marine life and hurt the fishing industry. Some conservative governors are even threatening lawsuits to block the federal permits.
Still, for Trump, it’s a major step forward in his climate legacy and a campaign talking point he’s likely to use as 2026 approaches.
