What started as a joke turned into a wave of nostalgia that’s sweeping across TikTok. A woman named Kelsey Thompson, now 32, recently opened a time capsule she buried in 2nd grade and what she found had the internet in stitches.
Inside the box: a Spice Girls cassette, a note that said, When I grow up, I want to be a unicorn doctor, and a picture of her childhood crush with I’ll marry him one day scribbled on the back. But the kicker? That boy is now her husband.
“I’d completely forgotten I put his picture in there,” she laughed. “He has no idea I planned this long.”

People are now digging through their attics and calling up schools asking if their time capsules still exist. One comment reads: “I just remembered I buried a box under a tree in 1999… brb digging it up.”
Sometimes the past returns not to haunt but to heal. And maybe, even to deliver a love story we forgot we started.
