It was supposed to be the happiest day of her life but it didn’t happen in a church, or a garden. It happened in a hospital room, with wires wrapped around her arms and the smell of medicine in the air.
Samantha Clark, 27, had been battling a rare immune disease for months when she and her fiancé decided they couldn’t wait any longer. She wore a simple white hospital gown, her eyes full of both joy and pain, as she said I do from a hospital bed.
But just hours after the ceremony, doctors walked in with an update one that silenced the room.

Her results had come back. The treatment was working. Against all odds, her body had responded. Tears turned to sobs, but this time, it was from hope.
“We thought we were saying goodbye,” her husband whispered. “But we were starting a new chapter.”
