A homeless woman, identified as 46-year-old Angela Reid, collapsed in the emergency room of St. Vincent Medical Center. She lay on the floor for nearly 20 minutes as three nurses passed her by. One was even seen laughing. Another took a selfie.
By the time help arrived, it was too late. Angela died from internal bleeding. She had gone to the hospital the night before complaining of severe abdominal pain, but with no insurance, she was told to wait. She waited until her body gave up.
The hospital initially claimed “protocol was followed,” but after public release of the security footage, that statement was quietly deleted.

Family members are calling for charges and immediate dismissal of all staff involved. My sister wasn’t nothing, said her brother, Malcolm Reid. “She didn’t need money. She needed mercy.”
Angela’s story is more than tragic. It’s a terrifying reminder, sometimes, in America, your life depends not on how sick you are but whether someone decides you’re worth saving.
