The U.S. Constitution has survived civil wars, assassinations, and terrorism. But now, political experts say it’s being stretched to a breaking point by a type of leader it was never designed to contain.
Legal scholars and historians are warning that recent presidents on both sides have weaponized executive orders, ignored Congressional checks, and politicized the courts. But the current administration, under former President Trump’s political influence, is seen as the most destabilizing.
“When a leader doesn’t respect the rules and no one stops him the rules stop mattering,” said constitutional law professor Barry Langston.
As lawsuits pile up, and federal judges are overruled or ignored, one question looms large: Can a 250-year-old document still hold up in the chaos of modern America?
