A high-stakes political feud exploded over the weekend as Elon Musk slammed President Donald Trump’s massive new economic bill the $2.4 trillion “One Big Beautiful Bill” calling it “a betrayal of American innovation.”
The bill, passed by the Republican-led Senate on Friday, bundles infrastructure spending, fossil fuel expansion, tax cuts, and regulatory rollbacks. Musk immediately took to X (formerly Twitter), calling the bill “a disgusting abomination designed to crush clean energy and enrich outdated oil barons.”
Trump fired back during a rally in Michigan, branding Musk “a phony tech king who owes everything to taxpayer money.” He also threatened to cut all federal EV subsidies, which caused Tesla stock to nosedive, erasing $152 billion in market value.
Political analysts say the clash could have major implications for the 2026 midterms and the future of green policy in America.
