From both sides of the aisle, American politicians have repeated certain narratives so often, they’ve become accepted as truth. But many of these claims simply don’t hold up under scrutiny.
Here are 10 of the biggest political lies and what’s really going on:
1. “The U.S. has the best healthcare system in the world.”
→ False. We spend the most, but rank 30th in health outcomes.
2. “Trickle down economics helps everyone.”
→ Data shows the rich got richer. Workers? Not so much.
3. “Student loan forgiveness is unfair to taxpayers.”
→ Yet massive corporate bailouts are never questioned.
4. “Crime is out of control!”
→ In many cities, crime is actually lower than the ’90s but fear sells.
5. “America is energy independent.”
→ We still rely heavily on global oil and gas markets.
6. “We can’t afford universal healthcare.”
→ But we somehow afford $900B defense budgets?
7. “The border is completely open.”
→ Border crossings are actually lower than 2022, but politics twist the narrative.
8. “Wokeness is destroying the country.”
→ Culture wars distract from real issues like inequality.
9. “Social Security is going bankrupt.”
→ It needs reform, not fearmongering.
10. “Your vote doesn’t count.”
→ That lie is what keeps things broken.
Misinformation isn’t just online it starts at the podium. Stay alert.
