U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders has once again taken aim at President Donald Trump, accusing him of turning America into a playground for billionaires and corporate elites, while working-class citizens continue to struggle.
In a fiery statement delivered during a press conference on Capitol Hill, the Vermont senator didn’t hold back:
“This is no longer the America where the people come first,” Sanders said. “This is now a country where businessmen come first where the billionaires reap the benefits of the people’s labor, slap the word ‘deal’ on it, and call it leadership.”

Sanders’ remarks came just days after Trump’s latest speech at a private economic summit in Florida, where the former president touted his business legacy and hinted at major policy moves that would favor large corporations if he were to return to power.
The senator pointed to Trump’s history of tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation of Wall Street, and the privatization of essential services as proof that Trump’s version of America is not built for everyday citizens.
“Trump’s America is an illusion,” Sanders added. “It’s not about jobs. It’s not about families. It’s about profit, image, and feeding the pockets of the same elite class that’s been bleeding this country dry.”
Political observers note that Sanders’ sharp rebuke comes as both he and a growing number of progressive lawmakers rally support ahead of key Senate votes on economic reform, wage policies, and corporate tax accountability.
This latest clash reignites a long-standing ideological war between Trump’s populist nationalism and Sanders’ democratic socialism two forces that continue to shape the future of American political identity.
“We’re fighting for the soul of this country,” Sanders said. “And the people deserve to know that their voices matter more than the deals made behind gold-plated doors.”
The statement was widely shared online, trending under the hashtag #AmericaForThePeople, with many Americans echoing the sentiment that the nation is drifting further from its founding ideals.
