Former Kaduna Central senator and human rights advocate, Shehu Sani, has issued a bold message to activist and Sahara Reporters founder Omoyele Sowore, urging him to shift focus from social media outbursts to actionable political strategies.
In a statement shared during a panel discussion on youth participation in governance, Shehu Sani emphasized that political influence is not achieved through constant confrontation but through impactful actions that shape the system from within.
“Politics is not about activities; it’s about action,” Sani said. “Your action is what will make the government follow your lead, not by slamming and dragging them at every turn. The more you do that, the more you fall into their trap.”

While he acknowledged Sowore’s passion and his contributions to civic awareness, Sani warned that excessive criticism without constructive follow up risks playing into the hands of political opponents who exploit dissent to fuel division.
“We need courage, but we also need strategy,” he added. “Change comes from building structures, engaging the grassroots, and making people see that your words can translate into better policies not just viral hashtags.”
The remarks have sparked conversation across political circles, with some viewing it as a call for unity among progressives, while others see it as a veiled rebuke of Sowore’s confrontational activism.

Sowore, known for his outspoken stance against the current administration, is yet to respond to the comment, but allies close to him suggest a formal reply may be imminent.
As Nigeria gears up for a critical political transition in 2027, voices like Sani’s are advocating for a new political culture one built not on noise, but on visible impact.
