In a bold operation targeting security corruption, Nigerian military authorities have detained over 24 personnel, including soldiers and police officers, accused of selling weapons from national armories to criminal groups and terrorist factions.
According to military sources, the investigation began after intelligence linked seized weapons in the North-East to official supply chains. Raids were carried out in multiple states, and several suspects are already facing court-martial.

“These are serious breaches of national trust,” said Defense Minister Bashir Magashi. “Anyone caught selling weapons to enemies of the state will face full punishment.”
Security analysts say this bust exposes a long-suspected black market within Nigeria’s armed forces, which has fueled violence in areas battling banditry and insurgency.
The move has been welcomed by civil society groups and the public, who hope it marks a turning point in Nigeria’s fight against internal sabotage.
