Nigerian billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote has earned a global spotlight once again after being listed in TIME Magazine’s 100 Top Philanthropists of 2025.
The recognition comes after years of social investment through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, which has supported malaria eradication programs, maternal healthcare, micro-grants for women, and free surgery initiatives across West Africa.

“Philanthropy isn’t just giving money it’s creating dignity,” said Dangote in his reaction to the honor. “We must empower people to rise above poverty, permanently.”
Dangote is the only African industrialist on the list this year and was praised for “turning profit into purpose” on a continent still battling inequality.
His foundation has spent over $750 million in the last five years and is currently partnering with the African Union on a new child nutrition drive across 10 countries.
