BREAKING: Gunmen Storm Cocoa Research Institute in Ibadan, Kidnap Four Farmers

In a shocking security breach in Oyo State, suspected gunmen attacked the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) in the Idi-Ayunre area of Ibadan earlier today, abducting four farmers who were at the institute for work and research purposes.

Authorities confirmed that one of the victims has been rescued and is safe, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining three.

The Oyo State Police Commissioner, Femi Haruna, has deployed tactical units and the Anti-Kidnapping Squad to the area, initiating bush‑combing operations aimed at rescuing the farmers and apprehending the kidnappers.

Security analysts say this incident highlights the growing threat of kidnappings in rural and agricultural areas, a problem that has increasingly targeted farmers and small business operators in recent years.

The remaining victims’ families and the public are anxiously awaiting updates, while the police continue their operations to restore safety to the area.
