Ashley Monroe’s nightmare began with a fever. Her 5-year-old son was rushed to the ER with a 103° temperature. She called her boss to say she’d miss a shift at the upscale boutique where she worked.
The next day, she was fired.
What her employer didn’t expect? Monroe posting the text exchange online. The screenshots quickly went viral, showing her boss coldly responding: “We all have problems. Work comes first.”
Within 24 hours, the store’s Yelp rating tanked, protests formed outside the shop, and #BoycottHarperThreads began trending.
“Being a mom isn’t a crime,” Monroe said. “I was punished for being human.”
