Stop Blaming and Fix What You Got to Fix” — Chris Christie Publicly Challenges Trump’s Excuses

In a moment that stunned conservative circles, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has fired a direct shot at Donald Trump, accusing the former president of dodging responsibility by constantly blaming the past.

“Stop blaming and fix what you got to fix,” Christie said during a fiery Sunday interview on NBC’s Meet the Press. “Every time something goes wrong, it’s Obama’s fault, Biden’s fault, the deep state’s fault. At what point do you take ownership?”

The comment came after Trump once again blamed the “broken mess” he inherited from previous administrations for the current economic instability, border crisis, and global tensions. But Christie wasn’t buying it.

“Look, you’ve been in power. You had your four years. You’re back in the White House. If the border’s still broken, if inflation’s still hurting families, then do something. The American people are tired of excuses.”

Christie’s rebuke immediately set off a firestorm online, with both supporters and critics weighing in. Some praised him for saying what many Republicans whisper behind closed doors that Trump’s finger-pointing is wearing thin.

Others accused Christie of trying to stay relevant by attacking the party’s most powerful figure.

But the message stuck: Even within Trump’s own party, the patience is wearing out.

Political analysts say this moment could mark a shift in tone ahead of the 2026 midterms, as more Republicans are being urged by their base to demand results not just rhetoric.

“Voters are exhausted,” said political analyst Laura Coates. “They don’t want another blame game. They want action. And Christie just gave voice to that frustration.”

As Trump continues to dominate headlines, one thing is clear he’s not immune to criticism from within. And if more voices start echoing Christie’s challenge, the pressure to actually fix what’s broken may only grow louder.
