Trump Declares Ceasefire Between Israel and Iran Amid Ongoing Attacks: “Do Not Violate It”

In a major development that could mark a turning point in the escalating Middle East crisis, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a ceasefire agreement is now in place between Israel and Iran. Speaking from the White House early Tuesday morning, Trump confirmed that both nations had agreed “in principle” to stop hostilities following 12 days of intense warfare.

“I’ve spoken with both sides. The message is simple do not violate the ceasefire. Enough lives have been lost,” Trump said during a press briefing. He also warned that the United States would closely monitor any breach of the agreement.

The announcement, however, came just hours after fresh reports of missile attacks were confirmed in both countries. Israeli officials claimed that several rockets were fired into Tel Aviv from Iranian-backed militias in Syria, while Iranian media reported drone strikes in the outskirts of Tehran, allegedly from Israeli forces.

Despite the renewed violence, international observers and U.S. diplomats remain cautiously optimistic. “It’s not unusual for violations to happen early in a ceasefire,” said one senior Pentagon official. “What matters is whether the leadership on both sides reins it in quickly.”

The 12-day war, which began with a sudden escalation following airstrikes on nuclear and military facilities, has already claimed over 2,000 lives and displaced tens of thousands across the region. Massive protests have erupted globally, calling for a lasting peace solution.

Trump, whose presidency has been marked by previous tensions with both Tehran and Tel Aviv, surprised many with his diplomatic pivot. “We are not taking sides in this war we’re choosing peace,” he said.

Both Iran and Israel have yet to officially confirm the ceasefire, though sources in both governments suggest negotiations are still ongoing behind closed doors.
