Mariah Greene remembers the screams. She remembers the blood. She remembers her baby’s first cry echoing against the cold tiles of a prison bathroom. But what she remembers most… is what came next.
“I begged them. I told them I just had a baby. But they looked me in the eye and said: ‘No, you didn’t.’”
Greene, 29, was 7 months pregnant when she was arrested on a minor parole violation. Two weeks into her sentence, she went into labor. Despite asking for help for hours, no one responded. She gave birth alone, on the floor of the bathroom in Cell Block C.

She says two officers eventually came took the baby and told her she’d imagined everything.
Medical records show no birth. Prison logs say nothing. And the camera outside the bathroom? “Not functioning,” the prison claims.
“They stole him,” she says, voice shaking. They stole my son, and erased it like it never happened.
