Downtown Los Angeles exploded in protest after reports of aggressive federal immigration raids targeting undocumented workers in the city’s garment and hospitality industries.
Protesters clashed with law enforcement outside ICE offices, waving signs that read “We Belong Here” and “No More Deportations.” Several arrests were made, and videos of federal agents in tactical gear have gone viral.
In a dramatic move, the Trump administration has deployed National Guard troops and U.S. Marines to restore calm sparking backlash from civil liberties groups.
“We haven’t seen this kind of crackdown since the Trump years,” said one local organizer.
The raids and protests have reignited the national debate on immigration reform just months before the U.S. elections.
