High school senior Maya Jenkins had planned to dedicate her graduation speech to her late mother, saying, “To the woman who taught me how to love.” But school officials stopped her mid-rehearsal: the word “love” was not allowed.
School administrators say the policy is to maintain emotional neutrality. Students and parents are outraged, calling the ban cold and robotic. Maya plans to post her full speech online.
