Tech billionaire Elon Musk has fiercely criticized former President Donald Trump’s new tax and spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination” in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The Tesla and SpaceX CEO expressed concerns that the bill would balloon the national debt and destabilize long-term investment in key sectors like clean energy and AI.
The bill, officially named the “American Prosperity and Industry Act,” proposes deep tax cuts for large manufacturing firms and oil companies while slashing funding for environmental regulations and green energy subsidies.
“This is not about prosperity, it’s about favoritism,” Musk wrote. “It punishes innovation and rewards stagnation. We cannot afford this kind of political theater disguised as policy.”

Several prominent Republicans have also voiced reservations. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky said he was “deeply troubled” by the bill’s lack of fiscal discipline. Meanwhile, White House officials have defended the legislation, calling it a “blueprint for industrial supremacy.”
With both chambers of Congress nearly split, the bill faces an uphill battle in the Senate despite passing narrowly in the House on Tuesday.
Political observers see Musk’s intervention as significant, given his influence over both tech and political communities. His criticism could sway undecided legislators and corporate leaders.
