What began as a night of historic celebration quickly spiraled into chaos on the streets of Paris after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) clinched their long-awaited UEFA Champions League title with a stunning 5–0 win over Inter Milan. Instead of jubilation, the capital witnessed widespread riots that left two people dead, over 190 injured, and hundreds arrested.
PSG fans had flooded the streets around the Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Élysées to celebrate the victory, but tensions soon escalated. Youths clashed with police, torched 264 vehicles, and looted multiple stores. Riot police responded with tear gas and water cannons, attempting to regain control of several hot zones around the city center.

“This was supposed to be a night of glory for Paris. Instead, it turned into a war zone,” one eyewitness told Dobblog. Over 500 individuals have been detained, with dozens facing charges for arson, vandalism, and assaulting law enforcement officers.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo condemned the violence and called for swift justice. “This disgraceful behavior stains a beautiful achievement in French sport. We will not tolerate this kind of destruction.”
Investigations are ongoing into whether the violence was premeditated or fueled by organized groups exploiting the celebration. Meanwhile, PSG players have urged fans to “celebrate with dignity” as the city works to clean up the damage.
