In a chilling incident that has shaken Brazil’s influencer community, 36-year-old book and fashion content creator Vanessa Bohn was stabbed to death in broad daylight inside a shopping mall food court. The attack, captured on mall surveillance, has left her fans and fellow creators reeling in grief and outrage.
Vanessa, affectionately known online as “Vane Bohn,” had built a large and loyal following by blending her love of literature with lifestyle content that inspired thousands across Brazil and Latin America. But her life was cut short on June 7 when she was fatally attacked, allegedly by an acquaintance who had previously harassed her.
According to witnesses, the suspect had approached her aggressively before lunging with a knife. Security intervened too late. Vanessa died at the scene.
Online tributes have flooded TikTok and Instagram under the hashtag #JusticeForVanessa, with fans sharing her favorite quotes and emotional memories.
“She inspired me to read again. Now all I can do is cry,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
Vanessa’s death has reignited national conversations about violence against women and the safety of public figures especially female influencers whose visibility often comes with unwanted attention and threats.
The Brazilian government has yet to make a public statement. Protestors have already planned candlelight vigils in São Paulo and Rio this weekend.
