Three years after the murders of British journalist Dom Phillips and Brazilian environmentalist Bruno Pereira shocked the world, activists have launched a new Amazon protection initiative in their honor.
The Indigenous Environmental Guardianship Program trains young leaders from local tribes to patrol forests, document illegal deforestation, and collaborate with global conservation networks.
“This program is Dom and Bruno’s dream come to life,” said coordinator Solange Pereira. “We’re arming the next generation not with guns, but with knowledge and resilience.”
The program is already active in four Brazilian states and has support from NGOs across Latin America.
