Trump is now facing a legal battle with public broadcasting giants after issuing an executive order to eliminate federal funding for NPR, PBS, and other public media organizations. The move, which critics label as a direct assault on press freedom, has triggered nationwide protests and a high-profile lawsuit.
The lawsuit, filed jointly by NPR and three regional affiliates, alleges that Trump’s decision is rooted in “viewpoint discrimination” a violation of the First Amendment. “This is retaliation for independent journalism,” the plaintiffs argue in the court filing.
