In a united call to action, the Nigerian Senate and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Wednesday appealed to President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the resurgence of terrorist attacks plaguing the North-East region.
Senate leadership expressed deep concern over the recent escalation in violence by insurgent groups, which has resulted in loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of thousands of residents.
Governor Zulum, known for his frontline stance against terrorism, stressed the need for intensified military operations, improved intelligence gathering, and community engagement to curb the growing insecurity.
“Our people are under severe threat again. We implore the President to deploy all necessary resources and strategies to restore peace and security,” Zulum said during a press briefing in Maiduguri.

The Senate echoed this call, emphasizing the critical importance of national unity and decisive leadership in combating terrorism, while also urging the federal government to support humanitarian efforts for affected communities.
Security experts warn that failure to act swiftly could further destabilize the region and reverse recent gains made against insurgent factions.
The Presidency has yet to issue a formal response but is expected to address the security concerns in upcoming national security meetings.
