Obama Warns: Republican Bill Threatens Health Care for Millions of Americans

Former U.S. President Barack Obama has issued a sharp warning over a controversial new bill being pushed by Republicans in Congress, calling it a direct threat to the health care of millions of Americans.

In a strongly worded statement shared Wednesday, Obama condemned the proposed legislation, which aims to slash federal funding for Medicaid, eliminate tax credits that help low- and middle-income families afford coverage, and potentially drive up costs for working-class Americans.

“Right now, Republicans in Congress are trying to push through a bill that would put millions of Americans at risk of losing their health care,” Obama wrote. “This isn’t reform it’s a rollback that punishes the most vulnerable.”

The legislation, which is still being debated in the House, has sparked widespread backlash from healthcare advocates and policy experts who warn it could undo key protections from the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare a signature achievement of the former president.

According to independent estimates, the bill could strip coverage from more than 18 million peopleover the next three years, particularly affecting seniors, children, and disabled Americans who rely on Medicaid for essential care.

Critics say the proposed cuts reflect a broader pattern of targeting social safety nets under the guise of fiscal responsibility.

Obama’s intervention adds new momentum to Democratic opposition and public outcry. Advocacy groups have launched emergency campaigns urging Americans to contact their representatives and block the bill before it reaches the Senate floor.

“We should be expanding health care access, not taking it away,” Obama added. “Working families deserve better than political games that put their lives at risk.”

With growing tensions on Capitol Hill and bipartisan negotiations stalling, the future of American health care once again hangs in the balance.
