Outspoken political activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has issued a scathing rebuke of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following reports that the party’s 22 governors have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
Adeyanju, known for his blunt political critiques, took to social media Thursday evening, warning Nigerians that another Tinubu presidency would be a deathblow to democracy and a recipe for continued hardship.
“If Tinubu returns as president in 2027, just forget it your vote never counted,” Adeyanju wrote. “It means elections are pre-arranged, democracy is dead, and Nigerians will suffer another four years of economic strangulation till 2031.”
He further alleged that the endorsement signals that internal democracy within the APC is nonexistent and that the future of Nigeria could be at stake.
“We’ll be handing power back to those who have no solution, only suppression. If the same people who brought us hunger, insecurity, and fuel price madness are planning a comeback, it means Nigeria is under siege.”

The endorsement of Tinubu by all APC governors has stirred strong reactions nationwide, especially amid rising fuel prices, continued naira instability, and a surge in food inflation.
Several civil society groups have also voiced concerns about what they see as an attempt to shut out electoral competition within the ruling party.
Meanwhile, the Presidency has yet to respond to Adeyanju’s remarks, though sources in Aso Rock dismissed the criticism as “expected ranting from habitual opposition elements.”
As 2027 looms closer, critics warn that Nigeria faces a dangerous political crossroads one where the will of the people may be crushed beneath the weight of elite consensus.
