Following a heated week of debates in the National Assembly, civil society groups and legal analysts are calling for an urgent review of Section 305, which grants emergency powers to the President. Critics argue the provision has been used to stifle dissent in volatile regions. Legal scholar Prof. Abubakar Mudi says the law “needs updating to reflect modern democratic standards.” The presidency has yet to respond to requests for comment.
