Geoffrey Hinton often called the “Godfather of AI” has revealed what he believes could be the key to ensuring humanity’s survival in the age of rapidly advancing artificial intelligence. Hinton, whose pioneering work laid the foundation for modern AI systems, has become increasingly vocal about the risks posed by machines that can think, learn, and evolve at a pace far beyond human control.
Speaking at a recent conference, Hinton warned that without decisive action, AI could eventually outsmart its creators in ways that threaten human existence. His proposed solution centers on international cooperation a global framework where nations agree to strict safety protocols, transparent AI development, and independent oversight.
“This isn’t just about one country or one company,” Hinton said. “If AI is going to be more intelligent than us, then we have to make sure it shares our values and that means setting the rules together, before it’s too late.”
Hinton’s comments come as governments around the world race to regulate AI while tech companies push ahead with increasingly powerful models. Supporters say his approach could prevent catastrophic misuse, while skeptics question whether global unity on such an issue is realistic.
