Flash Floods Devastate Pakistan, Leaving Over 300 Dead and 150 Missing

Pakistan is reeling from one of its deadliest flood disasters in recent years, with officials confirming Tuesday that more than 300 people have lost their lives as relentless rains and flash floods continue to batter the country.

Among the hardest-hit areas is Buner, where last week’s flooding swept away homes, bridges, and entire communities. Rescue teams are still combing through debris, searching for nearly 150 people who remain missing, according to rescue official Mohammad Suhail.

The floods, triggered by weeks of heavy monsoon rains that began late last month, have left tens of thousands displaced. Families have been forced to shelter in schools, mosques, and makeshift camps after losing everything to the raging waters.

“This is worse than anything we’ve seen in years,” one relief worker said, describing how fast-moving torrents destroyed villages in a matter of minutes. Aid agencies warn of looming shortages of clean drinking water, food, and medical supplies in the affected regions.

For Pakistan, a nation still struggling with the aftermath of devastating floods in previous years, the disaster is another grim reminder of the deadly toll of climate change. With the monsoon season far from over, officials fear the death toll could rise even higher in the coming days.
