Doctor Arrested in Lover’s Murder Case After Deleting Evidence at Husband’s Command

A shocking murder case in Brazil has taken a dramatic turn after authorities revealed that a doctor under investigation for the death of her lover was instructed by her husband to delete key video evidence of the fatal attack.

Dr. Sabrina de Mello, a gynecologist and mother-of-two, was arrested this week on charges of procedural fraud and obstruction of justice after investigators discovered she deleted surveillance footage and text messages from the victim’s phone just minutes after his admission to the hospital.

The victim, Ivan Bonotto, 35, was stabbed on March 22 at a bar in Sorriso, Mato Grosso an establishment reportedly owned by Dr. de Mello’s husband, Tacca, who is now accused of orchestrating the attack. Bonotto succumbed to his injuries weeks later, dying of cardiac arrest on April 13.

Surveillance footage from the hospital shows Dr. de Mello arriving just four minutes after Bonotto was rushed in. Still wearing her medical scrubs, she told security staff she was there to visit a “friend,” but investigators say she was seen trailing hospital staff while deleting messages and a video of the attack that Bonotto had recorded on his phone.

When questioned, Dr. de Mello claimed she erased the evidence to “protect the victim.” But authorities now say she was acting on explicit instructions from her husband, who they allege masterminded the attack out of jealousy or personal betrayal.

Also arrested in the case is Danilo Guimarães, a local businessman and associate of Tacca, who authorities believe carried out the fatal stabbing.

Perhaps the most chilling detail? Bonotto was a close friend of the couple and had frequently stayed at their family home making his death not just a murder, but a tragic betrayal.

As the investigation unfolds, Brazilian media and the public are grappling with the stunning blend of passion, deception, and cold-blooded planning at the heart of this case one that seems straight out of a crime thriller, but is all too real.
