Viral Miracle in Onitsha: Pastor Allegedly Raises Girl From the Dead During Sunday Service – Medical Report Sparks Debate

Social media and national news platforms are in a frenzy after footage emerged showing Pastor Nnamdi Ogbuefi, founder of Revival Fire Embassy Church, Onitsha, allegedly raising a 7-year-old girl from the dead during a live Sunday service. The video, which has already amassed over 12 million views on TikTok and Instagram, captures the moment the pastor reportedly shouted in tongues, laid hands on the girl’s motionless body, and she suddenly gasped back to life.

The incident, which took place on Sunday, June 1, was confirmed by multiple eyewitnesses, including the girl’s family, several worshippers, and ushers.

“She had been declared dead by a nurse at a private clinic that morning. We were on our way to the mortuary when someone told us to stop by the church,” said the girl’s father, Mr. Uchechukwu Diala, in an interview with Dobblog.

According to him, his daughter, Chidinma Uche Diala, had suffered a sudden seizure after breakfast and was rushed to Elim Hope Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival at 8:42 AM.

Video clips show the child’s lifeless body wrapped in a white cloth and laid on a small church platform. As the pastor prayed fervently, thunderous shouts of “Jesus!” erupted from the crowd. Moments later, the girl appears to cough and slowly move her hands, sending the congregation into pandemonium.

“I was standing right there. She wasn’t breathing. Her skin was cold. Then… she came back. I’ll never doubt God again,” said Sister Amaka Okorie, a choir member.

The church has since claimed it was a “true divine miracle” and announced a week-long revival tagged “From Death to Life.”

However, the alleged miracle is facing skepticism. A leaked preliminary report from Elim Hope Hospital reviewed by Dobblog shows that the girl’s pulse had been “weak and inconsistent” upon arrival and that the attending nurse, Joy Ubah, may have “prematurely concluded” her death without full physician evaluation.

“This could be a case of misdiagnosis or a state of catalepsy not literal death,” said Dr. Femi Ayoola, a Lagos-based emergency physician.

Pastor Ogbuefi, however, insists the girl was “medically gone.”

“We didn’t call her back with medicine. We called her by the name Jesus Christ. This is a miracle and it’s real,” he told Dobblog in a press conference.

The Nigerian public remains divided. While many believers see it as confirmation of divine power, others accuse the pastor of staging the event for clout and offering.

Hashtags like #OnitshaMiracle, #DeadGirlLives, and #PastorPower are currently trending nationwide, with influencers, skeptics, and theologians debating the authenticity of the miracle.

“This is either the most powerful miracle of our time or the most elaborate religious performance,” tweeted Nigerian journalist Rufai Oseni.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has released a statement urging calm and requesting a full investigation by both medical experts and independent faith monitors.

“We must not dismiss miracles, but neither should we encourage deception in the name of God,” said Rev. Samson Ayodele, CAN’s Southeast Coordinator.

Meanwhile, a special delegation from the Ministry of Health has been dispatched to Onitsha to investigate the clinical history of the girl and the hospital’s procedures.
