In a scathing outburst that has ignited both fierce support and harsh criticism, outspoken activist and human rights lawyer, Barrister Michael Opara, has launched an unfiltered verbal attack against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him and his family of “using Nigeria’s future to play like children with a toy.”
During a fiery segment on the “Hard Truth Nigeria” podcast, Opara did not hold back:
“Tinubu, you’re nothing but a piece of sh*t you and your family are using the future of over 200 million Nigerians to play kito. We are bleeding, and you sit in Aso Rock treating this country like a family inheritance.”

The comment came in response to new reports alleging shady oil contract allocations to companies tied to members of the Tinubu family, and the controversial sale of state-owned assets under the presidency’s privatization directive.
Nigerians React Online
Within minutes of the clip hitting social media, hashtags like #OparaVsTinubu, #TinubuFamilyLoot, and #NigeriaIsNotAPlayground trended across X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok.
Many Nigerians praised Opara’s boldness, calling him “the voice of the people,” while others accused him of crossing a line.
“He only said what millions of us feel in our hearts,” said a user @NaijaLioness on X.
“Disrespectful and reckless,” countered @Bayo4Jagaban, a known APC supporter.
A History of Outspokenness
Opara, a former Students’ Union leader turned radical reform lawyer, has been detained multiple times under various administrations for civil disobedience and anti-corruption protests. His latest campaign “Nigeria Belongs to the People” has been gaining steam on university campuses and among market unions.
He has openly challenged the Tinubu government’s policies on fuel subsidy removal, naira devaluation, and the rising cost of living.
APC Responds
Presidential aide Ajuri Ngelale, responding via a statement late Friday night, dismissed the rant as “irresponsible, uncultured, and legally actionable.”
“No citizen, no matter how frustrated, should reduce public discourse to gutter language. The President remains focused on rebuilding Nigeria despite daily sabotage by those who profit from chaos.”

The APC youth wing has also threatened to sue Opara for defamation, demanding an immediate retraction.
Will He Be Arrested?
Human rights organizations like SERAP and Amnesty International Nigeria have warned against any unlawful arrest, stating that Opara’s language, though harsh, falls under protected free speech.
“When hunger and hopelessness take over a nation, harsh words are just symptoms of deeper pain,” said Dr. Amina Oyetola, a Lagos-based political sociologist.
Dobblog will continue monitoring the fallout from Opara’s explosive comments and the government’s next move.
