In a rare public confirmation, the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee says Iran is not actively building a nuclear bomb right now. This comes after Donald Trump claimed that Iran was “on the brink” and must be stopped.
But Vice Chair Mark Warner confirmed that no new evidence shows nuclear weapon production in Iran. Despite this, Trump continues pushing for a military stance, demanding Iran’s “full and unconditional surrender.”
Democratic leaders are warning that any strike against Iran must be approved by Congress, and they are calling for transparency, not panic.
“We’ve been down this road before,” said one senator, referencing the Iraq War. “We need facts, not fear.”
