When 38-year-old army veteran Terrence Miller remained seated during the national anthem at a baseball game last weekend, people booed. Some yelled, “Stand up!” Others turned away in disgust.
But after the anthem, Terrence stood, took the microphone during a veterans’ salute segment and delivered a message that turned boos into tears.
“I didn’t stand not out of disrespect but because I fought for a country where everybody gets justice. And right now, too many of us still don’t.”

Terrence shared how, as a Black veteran, he faced racism after returning from Afghanistan. “They called me a hero overseas, but a threat in my own neighborhood,” he said.
Fans began clapping. Then standing. Some cried.
One clip from the moment hit 20 million views on TikTok in 48 hours. “This man just woke America up without yelling,” one comment read.
